Ugh… have just not felt like writing at all. Despite a brain clogged with plenty of thoughts on plenty of critical life topics. All I have to share are key words. No formed thoughts. To sum up these past weeks.
Voila:
realtors, house-searching, MLS, money, selfishness, mortgages, rates, property taxes, UFFI, leaky basements, sabotage, renovations, IKEA kitchens, crooked houses, rubble basements, sagging floors, fixer-uppers, weird neighborhoods, terrible additions, trendy streets, Starbucks, nasal prongs, consent, kolbassa, borcht, paychecks, knob and tube, rented hot water heaters, new windows, old windows, AC, student housing, transfusion medicine, nursing orientation, oxygen therapy, oxygen toxicity, wound care, RNAO best practice guidelines, parking rates, commuting, conditional offers, closing dates, dress pants, freezing auditoriums, coffee break, rain, WHIMIS, computer orientation, policy, procedures, David Attenborough, documentation, caring for the caregiver, ergonomics, infection control, washing dishes, dentist, daisies, lunches, alarms, rushing, headache, business casual, powerpoint, Bangladesh, Guatamala, Thailand, Thunder Bay, home-made chilli, trach suctioning, atelectasis, sleep apnea, electronic charting, apple-picking plans, hospital and bedtime.
There.
That about sums it up.
Archive for October, 2009

Leaves are starting to change from green to green with red tips. The deciduous version of an unwanted rash (as opposed to the kind of rash we WANT). Not that I’m totally against autumn - on the contrary, I love fall. Sweaters, jeans, comfy suede clogs and down vests, apple pies and pumpkin carving, nippy air and low energy costs at home… It’s just that fall leads to winter. And the winters here are ho-hum. Now, I’ve seen what a REAL winter looks like (or did I? There was no light to see it with.) and the damp, cold and muddy substitute in Southern Ontario seems lack-luster.
I hear Calgary got its first snowfall though (in terms of seasonal manliness, Calgary has a way bigger pair than we do). And it was in October…. we haven’t seen snow in October here in forever. Heck, I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a white Christmas (in Ontario).
(Tangent)
The only thing white about my last Christmas was rice. The rice under our butter chicken. Oh and Frank Sinatra. Singing us Christmas carols on Lee’s laptop as we ate our Asian version of turkey and stuffing in a hotel room in a Christmasless country. OK so two white things associated with Christmas 2008. Neither was snow. Wonder how this year will turn out.

I can only do one thing at a time. These past weeks I’ve been painting/mixed-medium-ing. Then the past two days I’ve read. And started picking up my camera once a day. Haven’t felt like writing. Not sure why. Except, to say what I did already, I can only do one thing at a time. Luckily, my rotating through creative outlets does not impact on communication with home as much as it did a year ago.
We’ve had a lot of rain these past days/weeks in Southern Ontario. And last night, I walked past the living room window to find the sun shining, almost horizontally, into the raindrops and cobwebs affixed to the glass. Looking for a sparkly effect, I picked up my camera. Macro lens attached already, I started with it. And the sun faded before I got to try what I wanted to try. But I’m happy with blurry sparkly. Love how I can see the screen, and even the larger thatches of window ribbing (not sure what you call it, plastic insert that divides large window into six equal rectangles, looks very gingerbread-housey) reflected in the rain drops.
