Yesterday I made meatloaf for the first time. What an unappealing name…meatloaf. It tastes better than it sounds, thanks to a new recipe tried from FOOD magazine. Called Mr. John’s Meatloaf. Why was it good?
a) Substitute some of the usual amount of ground beef or ground pork for fresh de-cased hot italian sausage
b) divide the meat in half, put one layer down, then add a row of de-cased fresh chorizo sausage before covering the layer with the rest of your meat mix
c) slather Frank’s Red Hot sauce all over the top
Let’s just say that Lee almost licked his plate. And THAT is how I know it was good.
I thought this was a popular phenomenon in the spring time…not in the winter (er fall for the rest of the world). You know, long dark, cold winter…better to stay in bed/kitchen/living room and do things… but the summer! Hot…sticky…sunny…too nice to be indoors. Unless perhaps doing things indoors is not your style. I wouldn’t blame you either - because there are a lot of quiet, pretty places in the world with a nice view (not that I’d know)…but it’s risky! What if you were spotted? Arrested? Jailed for the rest of your life for unknowingly getting it on a little more than a km down the road from a rural daycare during a recess hike? Oops!
So congratulations to all you pregnant and socially irresponsible types. Perhaps parenthood will sober you up.
(That goes double for you preggered types I know: T&P, S&A, K&T, E&T, C&C, N&H)
Becky: hey hey
Jen: whaddup?!!
Becky: what are you up to?
Jen: watching some tv and puttering around the house
what are you up to?
Becky: not much…just painted for 15 minutes…feel like napping
Jen: lol me too
Becky: we lead exciting lives.
all this sitting and puttering makes me sleepy.
Jen: lol
life in the fast lane
Becky: ha
I’m going to sleep now…I’ll bing you when I’m up
and we can have another conversation about absolutely nothing.
Jen: lol
* Not an acutal chat…put pretty darn close to the real thing.

To do: give girl #3 a second arm. …
‘Shh Becky, this could be my finest moment!’ he says, adding vanilla coffee mate in place of cream to the onions, chicken and curry.
